Overview

Highland Park grew after the Highland Park and Lake Burien Railway opened in 1912 and made the hilltop between West Seattle and Burien accessible to homebuyers. Developers reportedly renamed the area, once called "Billy Goat Hill," to Highland Park. Westcrest Park, on land the water department bought in 1917, now offers wooded trails, a play area, an off-leash dog area and a viewpoint platform. [1] [2] [3]
